Volleyball Training

Can I participate if I play club ball?

Yes, absolutely! We are not a traditional club. We are affiliated with the JVA for insurance and business purposes, but we do not plan to participate in tournaments. We are not here to compete with clubs and welcome players from any club to take advantage of our training and consulting services.

How many weeks do the clinics run?

Most of our training programs do not have a timeline as they are meant to be on going offerings that athletes can come to as their schedules allow.

In general, our trainings are not designed as a series that you pay for several sessions at once and they are not cumulative. The current clinics being offered each week in Grand Island, Columbus, and Lincoln will continue for as long as there is interest and we are talking to several schools about offering clinic nights in their towns!

Who are the coaches that are doing the training?

The primary coach, consultant, and owner of Innovation Volleyball is Scott Mattera, a former college, high school, and club coach with 18 years of experience and reputation for running fun and effective training. His bio along with the info about all of our coaches can be found on our staff page.

What is the level of play at the clinics?

Our clinics are taught at the level of the best player in the gym which most of the time is a college prep level. That doesn’t mean that less experienced players can’t participate. They just need to know what they are getting into and that it might be a bit above where they are skill wise. It’s a great way for them to learn as long as they are prepared to struggle a bit. We will always be positive and encouraging, but we do not slow things down. This style of clinic works really well with players of mixed abilities because it is nearly ALL individual skills and drills. Therefore, high-level players aren’t held back by less experienced ones and less experienced players get to see higher level players model the skills. We also have multiple coaches at every session with the intent of keeping the player to coach ratio at or under 6-1 so that there is plenty of feedback for everyone.

How do I sign up for training?

We are looking at an online signup system but right now, everything we are doing is via email invite and RSVP. To be added to our email invite list, click here.
